Each weapon adds its weapon skill to the equipped actor.Įach weapon skill uses the instant cast plugin (so it doesn't take up the user's turn), applies a corresponding weapon state to the user, and removes all other weapon states from the user. This represents the actor having no weapon ready.Įach weapon gets a corresponding weapon skill. Seal the default attack skill for all actors. It's a bit tricky and will require a bit of compromise, but you can pull this off with skills, states, the Yanfly instant cast plugin, weapon unleash plugin, and optionally the auto-passive states and buff states core plugins. Thanks for making it this far! If you have any advice/ideas/solutions (or just thoughts on this mechanic), please discuss with me in the comments! It currently looks like my best bet is to remove Galv's weapon proficiencies and consolidate all melee weapons and all ranged weapons, but I really don't want to have to do that :( However, then I would lose the ability to reward proficiency with a specific weapon type (swords vs axes). That would be fine, since any class can use any weapon type anyway, and there would only be two it would be perfect. However, to do that I would need to have only two types of weapons (Melee and Ranged), otherwise an actor would be able to equip one of every single weapon type swords, lances, etc. I could easily use Olivia's Octopack Battler weapon swap plugin, which does EXACTLY what I want. That's the one that makes this difficult. I am using a lot of Yanfly's (praise be unto him) plugins, as well as Galv's weapon proficiency. (Heh, and yes, this is inspired by Xenoblade Chronicles X) There are some melee weapons types and some ranged weapon types, and I like the idea of each actor having one of each, though I'm not opposed to giving the player the option of doubling down on one or the other.

  • If possible (but not a necessity), it would be nice if I could set which weapon types are allowed to be in each slot.
  • This would be easy to do with any plugin that supports changing equipment mid-battle, but the problem is that I want the actor to only be able to switch between those two weapons that they equipped outside of battle.
  • I want the actor to be able to switch between these two weapons in the middle of battle.
  • The second weapon slot should be completely useless: No stat gain, animation, traits, or skills that it might give you (etc.).
  • I would like the actor to always be treated as though they are only equipped with the first of the two weapons.
  • Whether or not I would call it dual-wielding is questionable and probably depends on whether you're the player or the developer: In the game that I'm currently working on in MV, I'm trying to achieve a unique form of dual wielding that I haven't seen support for from any existing plugins. Yanfly put the nail in the coffin for me, but I can't blame him for doing what he thinks is fair for the work he has done, at the same time.Hi all! New to the community (but not to RPG Maker) and look forward to contributing where I can! I realized the app is SO dependent on plugins to make even a decent game, that the next RPG Maker they drop, I will barely even consider it, unless it is fundamentally better and not dependent on paying more and more and more to third party developers to make something even decent. Personally, I stopped using RPG Maker because of it. I personally feel both frustration and understanding, he did put a lot of work into it, of course he deserves to make something off of that, I just hate how things took a random turn into /forcing/ people to pay. I'm not gonna say anyone's wrong or right for how they feel, I'm just gonna say there is definitely frustration, and understanding, and a big mix of feelings. The diversity in the opinion of this is large. I think the thing that really frustrates people, including myself, is the fact that someone was offering this as a hobby, not asking anything for it, and then did a 180 out of nowhere and started charging us for it. I love supporting developers, hell, I subscribe to things even when there's no great reward for it, I just like to help keep someone in business. It upset me, honestly, as it was previously free- and THEN he changed his mind.
